About the Forum


LuminoCity 2017 will be a 3-day forum from 3-5 November 2017 at The Pavilion with keynote presentations, panel discussions and breakout sessions. The program is interspersed with worship and ministry, as well as opportunities to network and carry on impactful discussions. The event brings together thought-leaders and disciples in the marketplace to initiate and bring forward conversations that would shape the culture of our day. Topics that will be brought forth will be hot topics and challenges that face our present world. The discussions will be in-depth and intermixed across the spheres of Business, Government, Arts & Entertainment, Media and Distribution, Education, Church as well as Family. We hope that participants will be fuelled afresh in the art of carrying and creating the culture of God’s Kingdom in their lives and in the marketplace.

Tan Chuan-Jin
Speaker of Parliament
Mr Tan Chuan-Jin is the current Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore. He has been elected to the post by Members of Parliament (MPs) on 11 September 2017, making him the 10th Speaker of Singapore since the First Legislative Assembly of 1955. Mr Tan has been an elected MP in the Marine Parade GRC since 7 May 2011. He served as the Minister for Social and Family Development from 9 April 2015 until his election as Speaker on 11 September 2017. He had also been the Minister for Manpower from 1 May 2014 to 8 April 2015. Prior to his election to Parliament, Mr Tan had served in the Singapore Armed Forces for nearly 24 years. He holds a Master’s Degree in Defence Studies from King’s College in London and a Master’s Degree in Public Management from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. Mr Tan is married with two children. He enjoys running and photography. In 2014, he published a book capturing his travel photographs and has auctioned his prints in support of charitable causes  
Koh Boon Hwee

A distinguished corporate leader and entrepreneur, Koh Boon Hwee is the Chairman of Credence Partners Pte Ltd. He is also the Chairman of Sunningdale Tech Ltd, Yeo Hiap Seng Limited, Far East Orchard Limited, AAC Technologies Holdings Inc and Agilent Technologies, Inc.. Boon Hwee was formerly the Chairman of the Singapore Telecom Group, Singapore Airlines Limited & DBS Bank. He also served on the Board of Temasek Holdings Pte Ltd. He is currently Chairman of Nanyang Technological University, and a director of the Hewlett Foundation. Boon Hwee received his Bachelor’s Degree from Imperial College London, and his MBA (Distinction) from Harvard Business School. He also received an honorary doctorate from Imperial College London.
Melissa Kwee
CEO, National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC)
Melissa’s passion is to serve marginalised members of society and create win-win opportunities to empower them as valued and contributing members of our community. Melissa pioneered service learning programmes in schools; spearheaded anti-trafficking campaigns as President of UN Women Singapore and founded Beautiful People, a mentoring programme that helps teenaged girls reintegrate into society. Melissa serves on the boards of the Institute of Technical Education, Crest: a Specialised School for Technical Education, and Prison Fellowship Singapore and Prison Fellowship International. She is also Director of Pontiac Land and covers the Human Capital and Capella Singapore portfolios.
Reuben Lai
Head of Corporate Development and Partnerships, Grab

Reuben Lai heads Corporate Development and Partnerships at Grab to accelerate the growth of the company through transformative partnerships. He is passionate about making a positive impact on society. At Grab, he works on initiatives that improves the livelihood of drivers. Reuben has also cofounded a telemedicine startup and sits on the board of another startup. Prior to this, he was Director of Strategy at The Walt Disney Co. (SEA). He was also previously a consultant at Bain & Co. where he advised companies and non-profits on strategy.

Shirley Tan
CEO of Rajawali Property Group
Raised and educated in Singapore, Shirley Tan has had a wealth of experience in finance, global marketing and corporate development under her belt. Now she is fully immersed in the realm of property and hospitality, being the driving force behind Rajawali Property Group, whose portfolio includes Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta, Capital Place Office Tower and the forthcoming St. Regis Jakarta.
Philip Ng
CEO of Far East Organization
Philip Ng is the Chief Executive Officer of Far East Organization which is a family-owned property development and investment group operating in Singapore, Malaysia and Australia.Far East Organization operates as a Christian enterprise which seeks to be a community of love and a workplace of grace doing business guided by the eternal truth of Jesus Christ.Mr Ng is a Director of Hong Kong-based Sino Group, which is Far East Organization’s sister company, engaging in real estate activities in Hong Kong and China. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with First Class Honours from King’s College, London University, UK and two Master degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA: a Master of Science in Technology & Policy and a Master in City Planning. Mr Ng is a member of MOH (Ministry of Health) Holdings Healthcare Infrastructure and Planning Committee. He is also a fellow of King’s College and a member of the MIT Corporation (USA). Mr Ng and his wife, Vy-vyen, have six children and worship at the Church of The Holy Cross.
Joshua Woo Sze Zeng

Joshua Woo Sze Zeng is a Councillor at a municipal council in Malaysia. He was formerly Special Officer to Member of Parliament. Prior to his relocation back to Malaysia, he has worked in Hong Kong, Australia, and Singapore. Joshua has a Bachelor of Divinity (Trinity Theological College, Singapore), and is an alumnus of Cambridge University's Inter-Faith Programme and Yale University's Pathway for Mutual Respect's Singapore Institute. Joshua has also authored a book titled “The Gospel, Sociopolity, and Malaysian Society” published in 2013.
Dr Tan Lai Yong
Director, Outreach and Community Engagement, College of Alice & Peter Tan, NUS
Dr Tan Lai Yong is the Director of Outreach & Community Engagement Resident Fellow at College of Alice & Peter Tan who has a heart for the downtrodden and marginalised. He was a medical missionary in Yunnan who has since settled (for now) in Singapore, reaching out to migrant workers, elderly, ex-offenders and encouraging bonding between fathers and sons through football. Dr Tan Lai Yong also teaches a course called “Hidden Communities” that seeks to develop empathy in students for marginalised and hidden groups.  
Jason Wong
Board Chairman, Focus on the Family Singapore Director, Centre for Fathering
Jason is, for many, synonymous with the national father's movement, Dads for Life, and Yellow Ribbon Project (unlocking the second prison for ex-offenders to reintegrate into family and community), having founded both movements in 2009 and 2004 respectively. Jason “went to prison” where he held appointments such as Deputy Director of Singapore Prison Services and CEO of Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises (SCORE). He worked thereafter at Ministry of Social and Development Development where he oversaw the work with abused children and youth-at-risk. A former civil servant, Jason now serves as Board Chairman of Focus on the Family Singapore, and a Director on the board of Centre for Fathering His greatest passion is to see Family restored through turning the heart of every father towards his children, and for every child to have a good father-figure in his/her life. Jason is married to Donna and is a loving, involved father to his two children. This is what Jason says of Donna "People say that behind every successful man is a woman.  Well, to me, I would say that behind this man is an exhausted woman."
Ronald J J Wong
Advocate & Solicitor, Covenant Chambers LLC
Ronald believes in being an advocate who seeks justice, peace and joy for others. He’s a Singapore lawyer with commercial litigation, international arbitration and corporate business advice practices. He tries to promote access to justice by volunteering pro bono. He also write on the law; some of his articles are published in academic journals. He is burdened about seeking the common good of society, building community and being a social justice advocate for marginalized people. He also enjoys culture and the arts. As a Christian, he strives to live out his faith with integrity, with the grace of God.
Pauline Phoon
Managing Partner and founder of SOOS OIO LLP
As Managing Partner and founder of SOOS OIO LLP, Pauline Phoon is passionate about equipping youths in Singapore to be quality content creators on social media. As General Manager of Monsoon Productions Pte Ltd & Managing Director of Soulmanna Live Pte Ltd, she was one of the pioneers in Asia Pacific to work with the first generation of YouTube celebrities like Ryan Higa, David Choi and Wong Fu Productions. While working with YouTube artists from the States, Pauline also involved local artists in the cities like Jayesslee (Australia), Jin Lim now known as Jinnyboy (Malaysia) and Krissy & Ericka (Philippines) to name a few.
Raphael Zhang
Program Strategist, Focus on the Family Singapore
Raphael Zhang is a Program Strategist at Focus on the Family Singapore, an organisation dedicated to helping families thrive at different stages and phases of life. He graduated with an MA in English and was about to pursue further studies when the Lord directed his heart to issues affecting the family. Having been led by God to journey out of sexual brokenness toward wholeness, he now avails himself to be used by Jehovah-Rapha to bring this healing and wholeness to others. Jennifer Heng
Itinerant speaker & Founder of Dayspring New Life Centre
Jennifer’s difficult years as a young person have given her a passion to help people find confidence and security in God. She tells her inspiring story in her book “Walking Out of Secret Shame”. Currently an itinerant speaker, she started Dayspring New Life Centre in 2014 to empower women and families facing unsupported pregnancies to make life-giving choices. She was formerly the Senior Pastor of Good Gifts City Church and Youth Pastor at Church of Our Saviour. In 2015, her contributions were recognized with several awards including the “Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World – Singapore” award, and The Singapore Women’s Weekly’s “Great Women of Our Time - Most Inspiring Woman” award. She speaks regularly in churches, schools, organisations and conferences in Singapore and overseas. She’s married to John and they have one daughter. She loves spicy food and dreams of travelling to Antarctica one day.
Janakan Arulkumarasan

Janakan is a serial entrepreneur fascinated by how social media and technology can help Christians grow closer to God, and achieve the Great Commission. For 9 years, he served as the CEO of Onoko, a secular social media company based in Hong Kong. Under his leadership, Onoko built social apps used by over 100 million people, and created viral Facebook games for brands like Starbucks, Disney, and Coca Cola. Janakan moved to Singapore with his wife Jeyanti in 2015 and together they launched Oikos, an app platform designed to build community, increase participation, learn on-the-go, stay updated, and more. Janakan has been a keynote speaker at numerous Christian tech conferences, including conferences in Thailand, New Zealand, India, Israel, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom.
Jeyanti Yorke

Jeyanti was born in London and served for 5 years as Corporate Partnerships Manager for The Prince’s Trust (Prince Charles’ charity). At The Prince's Trust, she partnered with Starbucks, HSBC, Huawei, and other companies to raise millions of pounds used to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people in the UK. She then led corporate fundraising at The Challenge, a national charity which helped up-skill and employ young people through volunteer, in collaboration with Mayor of London Boris Johnson. She moved to Singapore in 2015, and is a co-founder of Oikos.
Darius Lee
Lawyer
Darius Lee is a lawyer in private practice. He has served in youth ministry for more than 10 years at Yishun Christian Church (Lutheran), where he worships. In 2013, he was nominated by the Lutheran Church of Singapore as representative to the Lutheran World Federation Global Young Reformers Network Steering Committee. Darius firmly believes that God has called us to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him (Micah 6:8). He holds religious freedom, marriage and the sanctity of human life in high regard, and has defended these important values and rights on various platforms, including the newspaper forums and his blog I on Singapore. He has written about his journey of discipleship in his book, Like a Fire in My Bones: A Journey of Discipleship, and has contributed a chapter to the book, Choosing Life: The Christian Perspective on Abortion, as a member of the Life Network.
Edric Sng
Editor, Thir.st
Edric Sng is the Editor of Thir.st, a faith-based website for digital discipleship and digital outreach to a digital generation, with the aim of transforming a generation, one story at a time. He was previously the Digital Media Editor at Channel NewsAsia and the TODAY newspaper, where he was also Design and Voices Editor. In a past life, he was the editor of a scuba diving magazine. Edric is a father to four, and a husband to one, of course.
Carmen Loh
Co-Founder, Lepark & Co- Founder, Getai Group
Carmen Low is a strong advocate of empowering the next generation through Entrepreneurship, Arts, Culture and Youth Innovation. She believes the best way in helping to continuously raise the ceiling of youths is through hope; manifested through meaningful and beneficial connections between public and private sectors. She is a co-founder of Getai Group, an arts curation platform and space activation agency that transform spaces through meaningful content by partnering with both public and private sectors. Carmen is also one of the founders of Lepark Singapore, which is an alternative social space and a rooftop food and beverage joint in Singapore that is the bridge between online and offline activations for youths. Through these two platforms, Carmen has helped to build strong communities by providing a safe eco-system and an authentic voice for the next generation. With her partners, Carmen is also one of the founders of Heilogy, a human centric design think tank that empowers solutions for the future based on grounds up conversations and involvements. Prior to setting up her businesses in Singapore, Carmen has been living in China and Australia over the past 8 years, specializing in corporate affairs and public / crisis management. Carmen is also a Council Member of National Youth Council, Singapore.
